Guelph Co-op
Affordable and close to campus, the Guelph Campus Co-op operates lodging houses and apartment buildings far below market rates. It's a better deal because our mandate is to serve students, not make big profits. Another reason for its affordability is that housing members are required to participate in the upkeep and running of their household and housing community. Students in lodging houses (located across the street from the University campus) have their own furnished room, but share kitchen, bathroom and living room facilities. Students are responsible for their own meals. The Co-op also has unfurnished one and two bed-room apartments in a block of five low-rise apartments set on the banks of the Speed River, about a 15 minute walk from campus. The cost, location and student-focus of Co-op housing make it a popular choice amongst University of Guelph students and as a result, the waiting list for acceptance can be quite long.
