Co-operatives are owned by their members who use their services or purchase their products. Co-operatives are also driven by both economic and social concerns. They are community-based organizations that care not only about the bottom lines of their businesses, but about the needs of their members and the quality of life in their communities. Co-ops can provide virtually any product or service, and can be either non-profit or for-profit enterprises. With regards to OSCA, the primary service provided is student housing. However, some of our member organizations also provide other services. For example, Guelph Campus Co-op operates a student bookstore and Neill-Wycik Co-Operative College Inc. operates as a hotel during the summer months.
